What's Happening?
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development is actively working to ensure the smooth supply and distribution of chemical fertilizers in Kathmandu. With 28,824 metric tons currently in stock and an additional 140,504 metric tons in transit, the Ministry aims to prevent shortages during the farming season. Distribution is managed through Salt Trading Corporation and Agriculture Inputs Company Limited, with arrangements in place to meet demand. The Ministry has set a target of managing 600,000 metric tons of fertilizers for the fiscal year, supported by a budget of Rs 28.82 billion. Tenders have been called for the procurement of 300,000 metric tons, and a carryover stock from the previous fiscal year is also available.
