This move comes as Russia faces a significant manpower shortage, exacerbated by the deployment of workers in military operations in Ukraine and a lack of interest from young Russians in factory jobs. The Indian embassy is preparing to handle the increased demand for consular services, with plans to open a new Consulate General in Yekaterinburg. The Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry anticipates that by the end of the year, one million Indian specialists will arrive in Russia, including in the Sverdlovsk region, a hub for heavy industry.
