Metso has completed a significant expansion of its service centre in Antofagasta, Chile, to better serve the country's mining sector. The expansion adds 1200 square meters of operational space, increasing the total technical workspace to 4800 square meters. Located in the La Negra industrial district, the facility is strategically positioned near many of northern Chile's largest mines. The service centre has seen a tripling of technical agreements in recent years, solidifying its role as a key partner for mining companies. The upgrade includes new infrastructure and advanced technology to efficiently handle large-scale equipment, such as HRC and HPGR units, Vertimill grinding technology, and beneficiation and dewatering technologies. Metso has also installed an overhead crane with a lifting capacity of up to 140 tonnes and a high-precision vertical lathe for handling large parts.
