Ltd. is expanding the use of SmartFresh InBox, a post-harvest technology developed by AgroFresh Inc., USA, to address significant post-harvest losses in India's fruit and vegetable sector. The technology utilizes 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) to delay ripening by blocking ethylene, a natural hormone responsible for fruit ripening and spoilage. This innovation aims to extend the shelf life of produce during storage and transportation, reducing waste and improving efficiency. Currently approved for apples, field trials are underway for other fruits and vegetables.
