Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh’s Minister for Energy, Planning & Development, has reiterated the Sindh Government's commitment to utilizing Thar coal resources as a key component of Pakistan's energy and economic security. During a visit to Thar Blocks I and II, Shah highlighted the significant role these coal projects play in the national energy mix by providing affordable electricity. The visit included a briefing on the Phase III expansion of the Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC), which aims to increase mine capacity from 7.6 to 11.4 million tons annually, potentially energizing 4.5 million households daily. The project emphasizes local workforce development, with 94% of employees from Sindh and 60% from the Thar region. Additionally, over 2000 local youths have received vocational training. Shah also inaugurated an electric vehicle charging station for electric dump trucks and launched the second development phase of the Thar Foundation Hospital.
