General Motors Secures Rare Earth Magnet Supply Deal with Noveon Magnetics

General Motors (GM) has signed a multi-year agreement with Noveon Magnetics to supply rare earth magnets for its full-size SUVs and trucks. This deal comes amid tightening global supply chains, as China, which controls over 90% of rare earth processing, has imposed new export licensing rules. Noveon Magnetics, the only operational manufacturer of sintered neodymium-iron-boron magnets in the U.S., began delivering these magnets to GM in July. These magnets are crucial for the production of electric vehicles, a key focus area for GM.
