What's Happening?
Swiss leisure carrier Edelweiss is set to expand its short-haul fleet by introducing its first Airbus A320neo in April 2026. The aircraft, identified as HB-JDB, will be acquired from Swiss, a sister Lufthansa Group operator, and is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines. Prior to this, Edelweiss will receive an older A320 variant, HB-JLQ, equipped with CFM International CFM56 engines, in October 2025. This expansion aims to strengthen Edelweiss's position at Zurich Airport, enhancing its fleet with environmentally-friendly technology and greater passenger comfort.
