Pro Farmer's Annual Crop Tour has commenced in Noblesville, Indiana, and Grand Island, Nebraska. This marks the 33rd year of the tour, which aims to provide the agricultural industry with accurate late-season information on corn and soybean yields. The tour covers approximately 70 percent of the nation's corn and soybean production across seven states. Western Leg Tour Director Chip Flory highlighted the importance of verifying the USDA's WASDE report yield predictions from the previous week. The tour will collect between 1,600 and 1,700 samples of corn and soybeans, employing different methodologies for each crop. Corn yield estimates will be finalized, while soybean pod counts will be conducted in a three-by-three-foot area. Last year, the tour identified a heavily-podded soybean crop that ultimately did not finish.
