India and Israel on Thursday signed an agreement to link UPI payment systems in Israel, informed PM Modi while addressing a joint press briefing with Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem.

decided to establish the Critical and Emerging Technologies Partnership. This will give new momentum to cooperation in areas such as AI, quantum, and critical minerals,” said PM Modi.

“I am pleased that an agreement has been reached for the use of UPI in Israel,” he added.

Highlighting other areas of cooperation, Modi said both countries will expand their engagement in civil nuclear energy and the space sector. He noted that the partnership will also focus on developing future-ready farming solutions by combining innovation with practical agricultural needs.

In addition, he said India and Israel will work together to create “villages of excellence”, aimed at improving agricultural productivity and rural development through advanced technologies and best practices.

“We will further our work in civil nuclear energy and space fields. Together, we will develop future-ready farming solutions. We will work on creating villages of excellence,” said PM Modi.

Prime Minister Modi, who concludes his two-day visit to Israel today, also said that India will soon give final shape to a mutually beneficial free trade agreement with Israel.

The two countries will also pursue joint development, production, and transfer of technology in defence, Modi said at the end of his two-day trip to Israel, he said.

During the joint press briefing, Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu described PM Modi’s trip as “short but extraordinarily productive and extraordinarily moving,” saying there “wasn’t a dry eye left in Israel” after the emotional address delivered at the Knesset. He added that the visit allowed both nations to “look deep into our hearts” while also strengthening cooperation through the “remarkable minds” of the two countries.
