Defending champions Mumbai Indians chased down the target of 193 runs in 19.2 overs on Tuesday (January 13) to secure a big win by seven wickets over Gujarat Giants. In the sixth match of WPL 2026, played

at Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, MI rode on Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten 71-run knock from 43 balls to successfully chase down their highest total in WPL history and extend their winning run to two matches.

The win over Ashleigh Gardner-led side on Tuesday helped MI pip them and take the No. 2 position in the WPL 2026 points table. The Mumbai-based franchise have 4 points to their credit from three matches played so far.

GG also have four points from three matches, but due to a better Net Run Rate (NRR), MI are ahead of them.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru also have four points to their credit, but their NRR is far superior to MI.

With MI’s eighth straight win over GG in WPL, RCB remain the only team in WPL 2026 who have a 100% win record. The Smriti Mandhana-led side opened their campaign with a three-wicket win over MI on Friday (January 9), and then on Monday (January 12), they defeated UP Warriorz by 9 wickets.

Harmanpreet’s second unbeaten half-century in WPL 2026 not only helped her lead the Mumbai Indians to their second win of the ongoing season, but she has also moved to the No. 1 position in the list of batters with the most runs in WPL 2026. In three matches of the ongoing season, with the help of two half-centuries, she has amassed a total of 165 runs.

GG’s Sophie Devine, who could only manage to score 8 runs from four balls on Tuesday, is in second place now. She has 141 runs to her name.
