As the tension between Iran and the US-Israel has intensified, the UAE government has ordered its stock market in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to remain closed for the next two days – March 2 & 3. The country is

bracing for missile strikes Iran has launched following the killing of its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in a joint force operation led by the US.

The UAE’s Capital Markets Authority announced that the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and the Dubai Financial Market will remain closed on March 2 and March 3. The decision was taken under its supervisory and regulatory authority over the country’s capital markets.

“The Authority will continue to monitor developments in the region and assess the situation on an ongoing basis, taking any further measures as necessary,” it said in a statement.

Both exchanges have some of the prominent listed companies in the region.

The Middle East tension has caused many affected neighbouring countries, including the UAE and Qatar, to shut down their airspace, leaving thousands of people stranded.

Brent crude and commodities such as gold and silver shot up following the heightened escalation in the Middle East, as people were calling the situation on X as ‘World War 3’.

Brent crude futures shot up to $82.37, the highest since January 2025, in the first futures trading before easing to $76 level.

Gold on COMEX also jumped 1.75 per cent to rise to $5,340, while silver remained in the range of $92-93 with a slight of weakness.

De-Escalation Efforts On The Way

A day after launching strikes on Iran killing Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, US President Donald Trump on Sunday said the new leadership wants to have discussion with him and that he has agreed.

“They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them. They should have done it sooner. They should have given what was very practical and easy to do sooner. They waited too long,” Trump told The Atlantic in a phone call from his Mar-a-Lago club.
