Across coastal and north interior Karnataka, dry weather conditions are expected to prevail over the next week. In south interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru, there is a slight chance of very light rain at isolated places on January 11 and 12, after which dry weather is likely to continue.

The weather update issued by the IMD on January 11 noted that several parts of Karnataka recorded temperatures below normal levels. The lowest minimum temperature in the plains of the state was recorded at 10.4 degrees Celsius.

“In the last 24 hours, minimum temperatures at one or two places over interior Karnataka were 3 to 5 degrees Celsius below normal,” the IMD said. It added that minimum temperatures at isolated places over south interior Karnataka remained “markedly below normal”.

Based on real-time data, the IMD said that minimum temperatures over north interior Karnataka, including places such as Bidar, Haveri, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Kalaburagi and Belagavi, as well as parts of south interior Karnataka, ranged between 9.0 and 15.8 degrees Celsius. In Bengaluru and surrounding areas, including HAL Airport and the city region, minimum temperatures were recorded between 16.0 and 18.5 degrees Celsius.

The IMD also said that coastal Karnataka recorded relatively higher minimum temperatures, ranging between 22.2 and 23.2 degrees Celsius.

“During the past 24 hours, south interior Karnataka saw a noticeable fall in minimum temperatures, while north interior Karnataka also recorded a significant drop at places like Raichur, Dharwad and Vijayapura,” the weather office said, adding that there was no major change in minimum temperatures in other areas.
