Instead of allowing unplanned growth to dominate the landscape, he launched one of India’s most ambitious urban reforestation movements. Neginhal introduced species like Tabebuia rosea, commonly known as Pink Trumpet Trees. These trees were chosen strategically as they adapted well to Bengaluru’s climate and added visual beauty to the city’s streets. Under his leadership, more than 1.5 million trees were planted across Bengaluru. It was a people-driven initiative, involving citizens and civic bodies working together.
