his account by hitting Kristian Clarke for a four on the third ball of the 13th over of India’s innings after New Zealand skipper Michael Bracewell opted to bowl first in the must-win match, but on the third ball of the 24th over, Kristian Clarke breached Kohli’s defence and shattered his stumps.

Kohli was shell-shocked by the manner of his dismissal in the second ODI and couldn’t believe his luck. The clip of his stunned reaction after getting out is now going viral on the internet.

Before making his way back to the pavilion, Kohli scored two fours for the world’s No. 1 ODI team and added 29 runs for the second wicket with Shubman Gill (56), 16 runs for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer (8) and 3 runs for the fourth wicket with KL Rahul.

Kohli was the third Indian batter who was sent back to the pavilion by Clarke on Wednesday. Before him, he picked up Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer’s wickets as well.

While Rohit was caught by Will Young in an attempt to hit a six, Bracewell completed Iyer’s catch on the third ball of the 22nd over of India’s innings.

Kohli overtakes Tendulkar

Kohli entered his name in the history books on Wednesday by becoming India’s highest run getter in ODIs against New Zealand. The 37-year-old right-handed batter from Delhi needed 1 run in the ongoing second ODI to go past Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 1750 runs, and he achieved the objective by smacking Kristian Clarke for a four on the first ball of his innings.

Tendulkar played 42 ODIs against New Zealand during his 24-year-long international career, whereas the ongoing match in Rajkot is Kohli’s 35th ODI for India against the Black Caps.
