Rapper-singer Badshah has been facing massive backlash over allegedly objectionable lyrics in his recently released Haryanvi track Tateeree. According to ANI, an FIR was registered against Aditya Pratik

Singh Sisodia, aka Badshah in Haryana, and a process has also been initiated to issue a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him. Amid the controversy over the song, Badshah has shared a video message on Instagram, revealing that he has taken down the song. He issued an apology, stating that he never intended to hurt the sentiments of the people of Haryana, or of any women or children. He expressed regret and sought forgiveness from the people of Haryana.

Badshah Issues Apology After Tateeree Controversy

On March 7, Badshah shared a video on Instagram, revealing that the song Tateeree has been taken down from all platforms. He issued an apology, stating that hurting Haryanvi sentiments was never his intention. “My new song Tateeree has been released, and I’ve noticed that a part of my lyrics and its visual representation has conveyed a message that has hurt the sentiments of many people, especially people from Haryana. First of all, I want to say that I myself am from Haryana. Those who know me are aware that my language, my food, my lifestyle, and my identity come from Haryana. I am a proud Haryanvi. I never had any intention or purpose of saying anything inappropriate about any child or woman from Haryana,” he said.

He further explained, “I come from the hip-hop genre, where lyrics are often aimed at putting down competitors. They are directed at rivals. It was never meant for any woman or child, and I would never do that. I have always tried to carry Haryana’s culture with me wherever I go. If anyone has been hurt, I sincerely apologise from the bottom of my heart. I hope you will forgive me, considering me as a son of Haryana—your own son.”

What Is The Controversy About?

A controversy surfaced around Badshah after the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) issued him a formal summons over allegedly objectionable lyrics in his recently released Haryanvi track Tateeree. According to ANI, the commission took suo motu cognizance of complaints claiming that the lyrics of the song contain indecent language and violate cultural sensibilities and modesty.

Meanwhile, an FIR, dated March 6, was filed at the Cyber Police Station, Sector-20, Panchkula, under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986, reports ANI. According to the police, the video shows minor girls in school uniforms throwing away their school bags and seemingly running away from their studies. The use of words like “Badshala” also misrepresents the school and educational environment. Furthermore, the song allegedly contains objectionable and indecent words directed towards women and girls.
