the film has been on another level. The epic saga has been split into two parts. While the first instalment is gearing up for a grand Diwali release this year, the shoot for the second part has already begun in Mumbai. A fresh report now suggests that Ranbir Kapoor has started working on part two.

Ranbir Kapoor begins shooting for Ramayana Part 2

In the magnum opus, Ranbir will be seen essaying the role of Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi will play Sita’s character. Yash will be seen as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Ravie Dubey is also a part of the film, and he will be seen as Lakshman. Now, according to India Today, work on Ramayana Part 2 has kick-started in Mumbai, which will reportedly be based on the story after Sita’s abduction. Sunny Deol will join Ranbir on set over the weekend. Ravie and Yash will also be a part of this shooting schedule.

A source told the portal, “It is an almost two-month schedule with some really heavy-duty action and drama planned. The story will move towards Lord Ram’s journey towards Lanka, and the filmmakers have already built lavish sets for the same. There are also a lot of scenes between Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, and the two actors will be filming those.”

If reports are to be believed, Sunny is currently busy shooting for Excel Entertainment’s next, directed by AR Murugadoss. On the other hand, Ranbir was busy with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, before starting the shoot of Ramayana Part 2.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that the makers of Ramayana are planning to launch the trailer of Part 1 at San Diego Comic-Con in July this year. A source earlier told Mid-Day, “Comic-Con gives it a global platform. The idea is to present the mythological drama not just as an Indian epic, but as a cinematic spectacle to the world. The feedback at the screening has strengthened the team’s belief that the film can travel across cultures.”

The first part of Ramayana will release on the big screens on Diwali 2026, while the second part will hit theatres in 2027.
