several farmer organisations. The strike has been organised in protest against the new labour codes and other policy decisions. Union leaders have warned of large-scale participation cutting across multiple sectors.

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) general secretary Amarjeet Kaur told PTI that nearly 30 crore workers are expected to take part in the strike. Demonstrations and work stoppages have been planned in several states, raising the possibility of disruptions in public life.

Bharat Bandh today: What may remain shut?

Banking services could be affected, particularly in public sector banks, as employee unions have extended support to the bandh. Major organisations such as the All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA), Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) and the All India Bank Officers’ Association (AIBOA) have appealed to their members to participate.

\n\n

Public transport services, including buses and local transport, may face disruption in areas where protests or road blockades are staged. Markets and shops in bandh-affected regions could remain closed depending on local participation.

Educational institutions in certain states, including Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal and Odisha, may suspend classes if the situation demands. In some areas, schools, banks and government offices are likely to either remain shut or function with limited staff.

Bharat Bandh: What will remain open?

Essential services are expected to operate normally in most parts of the country. Hospitals, emergency services and ambulances are likely to function without interruption. Airports and railway services are expected to run as scheduled, although minor delays cannot be ruled out.

Power supply, water services and fire departments are also expected to remain operational. Private offices and online services may continue to function as usual.

Citizens have been advised to check local updates before travelling, as transport disruptions and protest-related blockades may occur in certain cities.
