As per Telugu customs, the sacred mangalsutra ritual, known as mangalyadharana, will be performed. In Kodava weddings, however, priests do not hold primary importance; instead, ancestral blessings are central to the ceremony.

Unlike the traditional rice ritual practised in many Telugu weddings, the Kodava bride symbolically carries coins. Unique attire, authentic regional cuisine and the special honour given to the bride’s mother further define Kodava customs.
