New Delhi: In a keynote address at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Chief Executive Officer of Vertiv, Giordano Albertazzi highlighted the importance

of physical computing infrastructure, “When we talk about AI, we must also talk about data centers, the physical part that actually makes AI possible. If AI is the brain, then infrastructure is the body. Everything must be orchestrated, interoperable, and engineered as one integrated system to support the speed, scale, and density that AI now demands.” The remarks highlighted the crucial role of power, cooling and integrated systems in supporting the exponential growth of AI.

While we may be thinking of AI only as the software that we see and use, the inferencing and processing requires physical infrastructure, that is hungry in terms of both electricity to power the computing hardware, as well as water for cooling. So the AI is actually the software and the infrastructure, which are the data centres with allied technologies that allows AI to flourish and sustain. Vertiv provides power, cooling, software and project execution solutions for data centres. Vertiv has been active in India for over three decades, and has a large specialised team for global research and development.

Building efficient data centres

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Prashant Bhatia, Vice President of Sales at Vertiv told us a bit more about the operations in India. Bhatia said, “Vertiv is all about infrastructure for data centres. Whether it is power requirement, cooling requirement, everything that data centre customers require, we provide them. We also build solutions according to requirements to make efficient data centres. We are a pretty old and established player in this space. We are among the first companies in the world to bring in precision cooling. People know us for our legacy that we are carrying.”
