New Delhi: In the initial trade on 22 January 2026, the Indian market witnessed a great rally. Meanwhile, silver-linked ETFs witnessed strong selling on Thursday

and the prices of many funds fell by about 20 percent. The decline was recorded in just 40 minutes. However, there was a slight recovery afterwards. After US President Donald Trump’s refusal of military action on Greenland and the indication of not imposing new tariffs on Europe, the geopolitical tension eased, which directly affected the precious metals market. Nippon India Silver ETF, ICICI Prudential Silver ETF and Kotak Silver ETF declined 19 to 20 percent in morning trading. The high premium that remained in these ETFs suddenly ended. Now the question is, what happened overnight, the silver ETF, which was rallying continuously, got a brake.

Huge decline in ETFs

Interestingly, the selling pressure was mostly confined to the ETF market. The decline in physical silver, international spot markets and domestic MCX futures remained low. In the international market, spot silver remained stable at around $92.27 per ounce, whereas a few days back it reached a record high of $95.87. At the same time, March silver futures fell by about 2 percent in the morning on MCX.

After Trump’s statement, there was a rally in the market, but investors started making profits in silver ETF from record levels. Due to this, there was pressure in both gold and silver.

In the international market, there is a strong support for silver around $84 per ounce, while on the upside the zone of 94.60 to 96.80 dollars is being seen as resistance. The level of support of Rs 3,14,000 to Rs 3,06,000 is considered for silver on MCX, whereas on the top side there may be resistance between Rs 3,24,000 and Rs 3,28,000.
