New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir clinched their maiden Ranji Trophy title after 67 years on the back of a dominating 291-run first-innings lead against Karnataka

on Saturday, February 28. Fast bowler Auqib Nabi picked up five wickets, while Shubham Pundir and Qamran Iqbal notched up hundreds in a historic triumph.

J&K scored 584 runs in the first innings after opting to bat first at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground. Shubham Pundir scored 121 runs off 247 balls, while Yawer Hassan (88), Paras Dogra (70), Abdul Samad (61), Kanhaiya Wadhawan (70) and Sahil Lotra (72) also smashed half-centuries to help the team post a massive total in the first innings.

Karnataka skipper Mayank Agarwal scored 160 runs off 266 balls, but other batters failed to make a big contribution. Auqib Nabi’s five-wicket haul made a huge difference in the match as the pacer dismissed KL Rahul, Agarwal and Karun Nair.

J&K then declared their second innings on 342/4 as opener Qamran Iqbal smashed an unbeaten 160 in 311 balls, while Sahil Lotra also scored 101 off 226. Their partnership was on 197 when the two captains shook hands, with Jammu and Kashmir leading by a massive 633 runs.
