Shooting starts for Ramayana 2

Ranbir Kapoor has begun filming for Ramayana Part 2 in Mumbai. The shoot focuses on the story after Sita’s abduction, following Lord Ram’s journey to Lanka. A source close to the film told India Today that it is an almost two-month schedule with heavy-duty action and drama planned.

The filmmakers have built lavish sets for key scenes. There are many moments between Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, which Ranbir and Sunny Deol will film together. Sunny Deol will join the shoot over the weekend, the source added.

Star cast joins the action

Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, paired with Sai Pallavi as Sita. Sunny Deol takes the role of Lord Hanuman. Ravie Dubey is Lakshman, and Yash portrays Ravan. All will be part of this busy schedule.

Ranbir recently wrapped work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Sunny Deol is shooting for Excel Entertainment’s next film by AR Murugadoss. Despite packed calendars, they are prioritising Ramayana 2.

A rough cut of Ramayana: Part 1 was screened in Los Angeles at the Cinemark Playa Vista theatre. Viewers aged 18 to 60 gave positive feedback on the scale, visual effects, and storytelling, as per a report in The Week. This was a test version, and changes will follow based on reactions.

Producer Namit Malhotra has invested around Rs 4,000 crore to make it India’s biggest film. He promises an international-level experience, shot for IMAX screens. Part 1 hits theatres this Diwali 2026.
