\n Gor said it was “great to be here as the US Ambassador to India” and that he came with “a clear mission to take India-US partnership to the next level.” He recalled that his first visit to India was in 2013 and said he has “not forgotten the trip.”\n

\n He said he was “thrilled to take up the job in India as Ambassador” and thanked President Donald Trump “for putting his trust in me.” Gor said he spoke to Trump yesterday and conveyed his “best wishes to the people of India and especially PM Modi.”\n\n

\n Gor said the friendship between Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi “is real” and that the India–US relationship is “anchored at the highest level” between the two leaders. He added that both sides continue to actively engage and that the next call on the trade deal will happen tomorrow.\n

\n “This year will be a year of reciprocity,” Gor said, noting that trade is important but not the only focus. He said the two countries will also work on security, counter-terrorism, education and health.\n

\n Gor said the United States will “closely work on terrorism, security, technology and health” with India.
