Thakur recalled a similar situation in 2022 during the Russia-Ukraine war, which temporarily impacted travel but eventually saw recovery. However, his agents in Delhi recently informed him of delays without explicitly stating the cause, though they hinted at the ongoing global unrest being the primary reason. This uncertainty directly impacts the revenue streams for local businesses reliant on foreign tourist footfall, creating a climate of apprehension and potential financial loss for the region's vibrant tourism industry.

While the tourism sector grapples with external pressures, the Himachal Pradesh government is monitoring the well-being of its citizens residing in affected regions. Although precise records of Himachalis working abroad, particularly in Gulf nations, are not meticulously maintained, thousands are believed to be employed in countries like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman. The government has been actively facilitating the emigration of trained youth to these destinations through approved agencies since last year. Currently, approximately three dozen individuals have been sent to Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Dedicated officers are in constant communication with these individuals via a WhatsApp helpline, and thus far, no distress calls have been received.
